How to use this tool

  1. Enter Values, Matching weights, Mode, Remaining weight, Target average.
  2. Change a value to update the results and illustration. Check any validation message before using the output.
  3. Copy the results or download CSV. Reset restores the example values.

A worked example

Values 80, 90, 70 with weights 2, 3, 1 give a weighted mean of 83.3333… . In target mode, a current score of 80 carried over a weight of 60, with a weight of 40 still to come, needs 92.5 on the remainder to finish at an average of 85.

What you can do with this tool

How it works

Weighted mean = Σ(value × weight) / Σ(weight). The target solver rearranges the same formula: score needed = (target × total weight − points so far) ÷ remaining weight.

Frequently asked questions

How should I interpret the illustration?

It is a visual aid, not a replacement for the numeric output. Some charts compare values with different units, and those magnitudes are not directly comparable.

Can I use the result without checking the inputs?

Check units, signs, assumptions and rounding first. The tool cannot know whether the values you enter describe the real situation correctly.
