09:00 to 17:30 on the same day is 8 hours 30 minutes, or 8.5 decimal hours; deducting a 30-minute break leaves exactly 8 hours. In Dates + times mode, 09:00 on 1 January to 17:30 on 2 January is 32 hours 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How should I interpret the illustration?

It is a visual aid, not a replacement for the numeric output. Some charts compare values with different units, and those magnitudes are not directly comparable.

Can I use the result without checking the inputs?

Check units, signs, assumptions and rounding first. The tool cannot know whether the values you enter describe the real situation correctly.
