After you form

  1. Get the free EIN from the IRS, then open a business bank account so company and personal money stay separate.
  2. Stay compliant: the annual report costs $60 — diary the due date before you form.
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) — free from the IRS; a federal step that is the same in every state.

Documents you need

  • Articles of Organization — Articles must include the information described in O.C.G.A. § 14-11-204 (at minimum, the exact name of the LLC); they may be signed by a member, a manager (if management is vested in managers), or an organizer.
  • Transmittal Information Form 231 (paper filings) — For filings not submitted online, the Articles of Organization must be accompanied by a completed Transmittal Information Form (CD 231) and the $110 fee, mailed or delivered to the Corporations Division.
  • Registered agent and registered office — Changes to the LLC's registered agent and registered office address are maintained through the Annual Registration / Amended Annual Registration, per the Corporations Division filing procedures — a registered agent and registered office in Georgia must be kept current.

Annual Registration is due between January 1 and April 1 of each calendar year; the initial Annual Registration is due between January 1 and April 1 of the year following the calendar year of formation.

Georgia calls its recurring filing an Annual Registration, not an annual report. Corporations Division fee schedule (effective September 6, 2025) and the Annual Registration guide both list LLC Annual Registration at $60.00 online and $60.00 paper ($50 fee + $10 service charge). A $25 late-filing penalty also appears on the schedule.

What you can do with this tool

How it works

Every figure comes from the state's own published fee schedule or statute (the page lists its official sources) and was checked on 3 November 2026. The first-year minimum is the cheapest filing channel plus the fixed mandatory charges that fall due in year one; annual report fees fall due after year one, and variable charges such as newspaper publication have no fixed amount, so both are shown separately rather than folded into the total.
