Choose a PDF, then drag black boxes over everything that must disappear — names, addresses, account numbers. Runs fully in your browser — nothing is uploaded, which is rather the point with sensitive documents.
Real redaction, not a black highlighter trick: the covered words are destroyed, and the tool tells you exactly how it does it.

Redact a PDF properly: drag black boxes over sensitive content, and those pages are rebuilt as images with the boxes burned in — the covered text and images cease to exist in the file.
Before a contract goes to a third party, the pricing schedule on page 6 is boxed and burned in. A recipient who copies the whole page into a text editor gets the visible text only — the prices are not hiding underneath, because page 6 is now a picture.
Most “redaction” mistakes come from drawing black rectangles over live text — the text survives underneath and anyone can copy it out. This tool cannot make that mistake: a redacted page is rendered at high resolution, the boxes are painted into the pixels, and the page is rebuilt as an image. There is no text layer left on that page to extract. Untouched pages are copied exactly, staying fully digital.
A shape sits over live text; copy-paste extracts the hidden words. Here the page is rebuilt as an image with the box inside the pixels, so the underlying content is destroyed, not hidden.
The whole redacted page becomes an image — other pages keep their text. Fine-grained same-page text retention would risk leaving fragments, so the safe unit is the page.
Open the result, drag-select across the black box and copy: nothing should come out. Also search the file for the removed word — it should find nothing on that page.
No — redaction is about page content. Pair it with Remove PDF Metadata before sharing if author/title data also matters.
No — absolutely not. Redaction runs entirely in your browser; a redaction tool that uploaded your secrets would defeat its purpose.
