What you can do with this tool

How it works

Consumption and economy are reciprocal: kilometres/litre = 100 ÷ litres/100 km. MPG uses the selected gallon definition.

Frequently asked questions

Which unit definitions are used?

Litres/100 km, Kilometres/litre, MPG (US), MPG (UK). Read the labels carefully: regional or decimal/binary variants are separate choices.

Why does better MPG mean a lower L/100 km figure?

They measure opposite things: distance per unit of fuel versus fuel per unit of distance. As a car improves, MPG rises while consumption falls — the converter handles the inversion.
